For employees who own company stock
Giving employee-owners a real say in the companies they own.
If you hold your employer's stock through an ESOP, a 401(k) stock fund, an ESPP, or stock awards, you may get to vote at the annual meeting. Link your account once and ProxMe finds your company stock automatically, explains what's on the ballot in plain English, and helps you cast your own vote.
- Neutral and nonpartisan
- You vote. We never vote for you.
- Your employer never sees your account or answers

What ProxMe gives you
Everything you need to vote your own shares
-
A plain-English ballot explainer
For every meeting, each item on the ballot explained in everyday language, with the board's case and the proponent's case side by side.
-
A confidential poll
Share how you're leaning and see what other employee-owners think. Results are published only in aggregate. Employers never get access.
-
Step-by-step voting help
Clear instructions for casting your real, binding vote through your plan's official voting site, before the deadline.
-
How your 401(k) funds voted
A simple card showing how the funds in your linked retirement plan voted at your own company, using the voting records funds file publicly.
How it works
Four simple steps
-
Securely link your account
Connect your retirement or brokerage account through a secure linking service. Your company stock is detected automatically, with no forms to fill in.
-
Read your ballot in plain English
When a company you own is holding its meeting, we let you know, explain each item, and show both sides' arguments. We don't tell you how to vote.
-
Weigh in, confidentially
Answer a short poll if you want to. Answers are kept apart from your identity and only reported as totals.
-
Cast your own vote
Follow our step-by-step guide to vote on your plan's official site. Your vote goes straight from you to the official count.
Our privacy promises
Built so your employer can't see you
-
No employer access. Ever.
Employers and boards never get access to ProxMe accounts, linked holdings, names, sign-up lists, or individual answers.
-
Aggregate results only
Poll results are published only as totals, and only once enough people at a company respond that no one can be singled out.
-
Read-only account linking
You sign in through a secure linking service, so ProxMe never sees or stores your login. We get read-only access to your holdings and use it only to find your company stock and plan funds. You can unlink anytime.
-
We never touch your vote
Linked access can't move money or cast votes. ProxMe never asks for your voting control number and never collects or submits votes. You vote directly.
-
No selling your information
We don't sell or rent your personal information or holdings data. Poll answers are stored separately from who you are.
-
Independent and open
No union, investor group, or company gets access to our users or their data. Sponsored content is clearly labeled, and as a nonprofit in formation, we'll publish who funds us.
Questions
Frequently asked questions
Is this a union?
No. ProxMe is an independent, nonpartisan nonprofit (currently in formation). It isn't a union and doesn't speak for one, your employer, or any political party. Our explainers lay out the board's case and the proponent's case side by side, and we don't tell you how to vote.
Does ProxMe vote for me?
No. You cast your own vote through your plan's official voting site or proxy materials. Linking your account gives ProxMe read-only access to see what you hold. It can't be used to vote or move money. ProxMe never asks for your voting control number and never collects, holds, or submits votes. We help you understand the ballot and walk you through the steps.
Will my employer see my account or answers?
No. Your employer never gets access to your ProxMe account, your linked holdings, your poll answers, or even whether you signed up. You link your account directly, not through your employer, and we never use your work email. Poll answers are stored separately from your identity, and results are only published as totals once enough people respond.
Is linking my account safe?
You sign in to your plan or brokerage through a secure linking service, the same kind many personal-finance apps use. ProxMe never sees or stores your username or password. The connection is read-only: ProxMe can see which stocks and funds you hold, but it can't move money, make trades, or vote. You can disconnect anytime.
Is it free?
Yes. ProxMe is free for employee-owners. As a nonprofit, it will be funded by grants and donations, and we'll publish who funds us.
Who can use ProxMe?
Employees and retirees who own stock in the public company they work for (or worked for), whether through an ESOP, a 401(k) company stock fund, an employee stock purchase plan, or stock awards. Once you link your account, ProxMe works out which of your companies it covers. We'll start with a small number of companies and add more over time.
